To become active in the UpCounsel marketplace, an attorney must have a minimum of 3 years of experience practicing law, and must be actively licensed with a state bar. Before activating an attorney, UpCounsel also confirms the attorney is in good standing and does not have any existing disciplinary issues. In addition, new attorneys are required to provide two references from previous clients before UpCounsel will activate their account in the marketplace.
Once an attorney is active on UpCounsel, they are held to strict service level standards. Additionally, UpCounsel clients are prompted to review their attorney upon completion of a project. You can view an attorney’s UpCounsel client reviews by going to the attorney’s profile and scrolling to their review section. To view an attorney's profile, click on the “view profile” link under the attorneys picture on their proposal.
