Paying and managing your invoices on UpCounsel is easy. When your UpCounsel lawyer invoices you through our secure payments platform you’ll receive an email letting you know an invoice is waiting.
You can choose to pay the invoice immediately, or just let UpCounsel automatically take payment from the method you have on the designated due date.
Understanding Your Invoice
Hourly Rate or Fixed Fee - the rate you agreed to when you hired your lawyer, which includes your lawyer's exclusive UpCounsel discounted rate and UpCounsel's fees detailed below.
Filing Fees - any fees charged by a government agency to accept a document for processing. The amount of these fees will be specific to the project - different immigration matters or trademark filings, for example, will have different fee amounts.
Expenses - these are additional costs (rather than legal fees) you may incur, such as travel expenses or postage.
UpCounsel Fees - UpCounsel adds fees to your lawyer’s exclusive discounted rate to help maintain the platform and to cover critical client benefits such as quality and insurance.
UpCounsel only adds a small processing fee to filing fees and expenses. The total invoice still represents no additional costs over what you would pay this attorney if acquired outside of UpCounsel because of their exclusive discounted rate.
